London

Well it's been almost a month since our trip to Europe and we've been super busy around here, I just haven't made time for the blog lately.

Here is a recap of our visit to London:
  • The flight was pretty uncomfortable and we didn't really nap - maybe one day we'll be able to upgrade!
  • We stayed in a tiny but well appointed hotel near the Victoria train station. The location was great and it was easy to get around using the Underground.
  • The Underground train system is amazing. It is so fast and easy to use. We loved it.
  • We took a bus tour when we arrived on Sunday - touristy, but great way to see the city and learn about the buildings and neighborhoods.
  • The food was not amazing to me, but we did eat one really great meal at a Lebanese restaurant near Harrods, it was probably our best meal of the trip. We also ate a lot of fries, everything came with fries.
  • I kind of thought the changing of the guard at Buckingham was like a royal half time show. I think maybe I didn't read up enough about what all goes on (couldn't really see) or I'm just not sophisticated enough to appreciate it.
  • Over our 3 days there, we tried to cram in as many sights as we could - Big Ben / Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the London Eye (scary!), Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Harrods, The Texas Embassy (restaurant), St. Paul's Cathedral, and a lot of pubs.
Overall, we really liked the city, it reminded us of Chicago. It was really super expensive though, I don't know how people afford to live there!
